How Live Instructor-Led CAD Training Works
Our instructor-led CAD training follows a simple, structured process from registration to certification, whether you attend in person or remotely.
1. Register for Your Course
Reserve your seat in an upcoming class. Let us know whether you’ll be attending in person or remotely when you register.
2. Attend In-Person or Remotely
Join your instructor and classmates at our Houston office, or log into the same live class from your own location. Both formats follow the same schedule, two weeks, Monday through Thursday.
3. Learn With Real-Time Support
Work through hands-on exercises with an experienced, certified instructor available to answer questions and guide you as you go, regardless of which format you choose.
4. Earn Your Certificate
Complete the course and receive an official Certificate of Completion from our Autodesk and Octave (formerly Hexagon) Authorized Training Center.
Prerequisites
- A working knowledge of Windows and general navigation of a computer.
- A working knowledge of basic design or drafting procedures and terminology is not required.
This course is spread over 2 weeks and will be a comprehensive overview of AutoCAD to include the following topics:
- Becoming familiar with the AutoCAD interface, (ribbons, toolbars, etc.)
- Basic drawing and editing commands
- Creating and editing drawings
- Layout and Model space
- Templates and layers
- Advanced object types (polylines, ellipses, etc.)
- Blocks – creating, inserting and editing
- Text types and styles
- Dimensioning - adding and editing
- Viewports
- External references – overlay vs attached, relative vs absolute pathing
- External references – attaching and modifying
- Plotting a drawing
- Drawing annotations
- Hatching
