Online Self-Paced Training: AutoCAD 3D and Modeling
The objective of this comprehensive series is to introduce users who are proficient with 2D commands to the extensive 3D modeling tools available in the AutoCAD® software. This content is divided into three focused learning paths. You will begin by mastering the 3D workspace, navigating the User Coordinate System (UCS), and constructing solid, surface, and mesh geometry. From there, you will learn to edit solid models at the face and component level, ultimately progressing to advanced visualization techniques—including rendering, lighting, lighting studies, and generating automated 2D technical documentation directly from your 3D models.
- How much is it?

- 3 month AutoCAD license to use the software from your computer (a retail value of $780)
- Help on Course Content or Software Set-Up is available via Email and Phone. Our support consists of active, industry users of the tool.
- How does it work:
- Purchase the course
- Within 24-48hrs:
- You’ll receive an email to our Training Portal to access the course.
- You will receive another link with instructions and a link to create an Autodesk account and download the AutoCAD Software. We will assign you the Autodesk license to use the software that is good for 3 months. This will be for your hands on exercises.
- The course is broken into 3 modules (301, 302, 303). Each has its own lessons, activities, and quizzes.
- You have 3 months to complete the course. If 3 months have passed and you still need more time, contact us for an extension at $100/mo.
- Receive a minimum of 70% at the end of the course and you will receive a Certificate of Completion.
The Spectrum Solutions Difference
- Our course includes the software license. Most other online courses do not include licenses to use the CAD software which will incur additional charges on the user's end.
- We give users the flexibility of 3 months with course. Other providers generally offer 1 month.
- Our curriculum is training material that is authorized by Autodesk. We are also an AutoDesk Authorized Training Center.
- Users receive support from active, industry experienced users of the software.
- Users will receive a Certificate of Completion upon completion of the course.
Topics Covered: AutoCAD 3D Learning Paths (301-303)
- 301: Create and Modify Models
- Navigating the 3D workspace, identifying 3D model types, and viewing objects from different spatial angles.
- Mastering the User Coordinate System (UCS) to control drawing planes in 3D space.
- Constructing and modifying solid primitives, composite solids, and mesh models.
- Generating 3D solids and surfaces from existing 2D geometry using extrudes, sweeps, revolves, and lofts.
- Drawing advanced 3D paths using helixes, 3D polylines, and creating NURBS surfaces.
- Utilizing the 3D Gizmo tool to easily move, rotate, and scale geometry on specific axes.
- Manipulating 3D objects using dedicated spatial commands: 3D Align, 3D Move, 3D Rotate, 3D Mirror, and 3D Array.
- 302: Editing Models
- Modifying sub-components of 3D solids using specialized vertex and edge grips.
- Editing solid faces directly using advanced face editing tools (extruding, tapering, and moving faces).
- Applying accurate 3D fillets and 3D chamfers to solid edges.
- Executing complex solid operations: shelling solids, imprinting 2D geometry onto 3D faces, and slicing models.
- Interconverting geometry by converting objects between surfaces and solid models.
- 303: Views and Visualizations
- Cutting 3D models to create, adjust, and view real-time sections.
- Placing cameras to establish perspective views, managing saved views, and animating walk-throughs.
- Attaching, managing, and extracting 2D documentation from real-world laser-scanned point clouds.
- Creating and applying custom visual styles and realistic materials to objects.
- Setting up lighting systems, configuring sun studies, and generating photorealistic images using basic rendering tools.
- Configuring multiple 3D viewports, generating flat 2D views from 3D solids, and creating automated Model Documentation drawings.
- Organizing advanced technical layouts, importing external 3D models, and preparing 3D models for physical printing.
Prerequisites & System Compatibility
- Mastery of foundational 2D AutoCAD tools, including drawing commands, editing tools, layers, and layout viewports.
- Operating System: This content is strictly optimized for the AutoCAD 2026 software running on a Windows operating system. It does not cover and is not compatible with AutoCAD for Mac.
- Hardware Note: Due to the processing requirements of 3D rendering, point clouds, and shading, a dedicated graphics card (GPU) compliant with Autodesk system recommendations is highly recommended.
- Course material includes access to hands-on practice files.
